Short-term fostering is providing a temporary home for a labrador that, more often than not, needs to come into rescue quickly. Short-term fosters save our dogs having to go into kennels, especially when some dogs are already traumatised. Therefore, we urgently need foster homes for our dogs. Sometimes, we have only a matter of hours to get a dog safely into rescue. Could you be the person to save a dog's life? Can you open your heart and your home to a labrador in need? Even if you can only offer a few nights, that can make the world of difference. Knowing you played a part in a dog's happy ending is nothing short of magical!
A period of time in foster helps us to better understand the needs of each dog, which in some cases cannot be fully untangled during assessment. Some dogs have suffered physical and mental trauma, others have been neglected. Then there's those who have been rounded up as strays having been abandoned. These dogs need a special place to catch their breath and learn that not all people let them down. Through our foster carers we can really get to know the dogs and find the best home possible for each and every one.
Foster carers are fully supported by our short-term foster team, coordinated by Sally Winter, who ensures that each foster has a point of contact. We are happy to answer any questions you might have. We look forward to hearing from you.
When we have dogs needing short-term foster, their details will be added here.
